Pick-up items and what each does

Updated · Database

Quick answer

Pick-ups spawn around the faction-themed light sources on each stage and are one-shot. 40K: Frag Grenade, Melta-Bomb (delayed thermal blast — kite enemies into it), Blast Template (kills everything on screen, except insta-kill-resistant enemies), Hellfire Ammo (ranged damage up + Poisoned), Frenzon (Berserk: attack faster). Age of Sigmar: Purple Sun of Shyish (damage zones that hit you too), Ravenak's Gnashing Jaws (a tethered pet that bites and Burns), Suffocating Gravetide (stuns, then enemies flee).

Warhammer 40,000 — “Extreme Ordinances”

Pick-up Effect
Frag Grenade Standard grenade (also Catachan’s base weapon)
Melta-Bomb High-power thermal blast after a short delay — lure a mob into the radius
Blast Template A 6th-edition-style template lands and destroys every enemy on screen; insta-kill-resistant enemies survive
Hellfire Ammo Temporarily raises all ranged damage and applies Poisoned (Sternguard acid rounds)
Frenzon Grants you Berserk — weapons attack more often

Age of Sigmar — Endless Spells

Pick-up Effect
Purple Sun of Shyish Once manifested, unleashes damage zones that hit anything in the light, you included; whizzes off-screen when done
Ravenak’s Gnashing Jaws Tethers to you as a pet, biting nearby enemies in your direction of travel and applying Burning
Suffocating Gravetide A wave of the restless dead stuns everything it hits, then those enemies flee for a moment

Light sources differ per faction (braziers, lamps, warpstone), so learn what the “lamp” looks like on each stage.

FAQ

Are pick-ups the same in both universes?

Mostly not — Auroch says most are unique to their universe, though a few behave similarly.

Can the Purple Sun hurt me?

Yes. Its damage zones strike "anything caught in the unholy light – even the player". Auroch hints there may be a way to keep it on your side longer.

Does the Blast Template kill bosses?

Some enemies resist insta-kill effects; Auroch doesn't say which, but assume bosses do.
