Evolutions
- Evolutions list: every weapon evolution and its passive▶ VideoAn evolution needs the base weapon at max level plus one specific passive item in your build, then a weapon chest from a boss — same rules as Vampire Survivors. The 11 demo recipes below are reported by players and match across two independent community charts; the full game adds at least Power Fists → Gauntlets of Ultramar, Fyrestorm Greataxe → Zangrom-Thaz and Heavy Bolter Fidelis → Purgator Mirabilis, whose passives Auroch hasn't published. 75+ weapons are promised, so this table will grow fast after November 10.
- How to evolve a weaponGet the weapon to its max level, hold the passive item its recipe needs (players report level 1 is enough), then open a weapon chest — the ones dropped by elites and bosses. The chest evolves the weapon instead of giving a normal item. If nothing happens, the weapon isn't maxed, the passive isn't in your build, or that weapon has no evolution yet (several didn't in the demo).
- Boltgun evolutionThe Boltgun evolves into the Heavy Bolter with the Dice Cube passive (max the Boltgun, hold the Dice Cube, open a boss chest). The Heavy Bolter name is the developer's; the Dice Cube pairing is community-reported from the demo. In Age of Sigmar the Boltstorm Pistol is a different weapon — it evolves into the Typhoon Crossbow, also with the Dice Cube.
- Frag Grenade evolutionThe Frag Grenade evolves into the Ripper Pistol with the Bandolier passive, per two community demo charts. Auroch's Oct 19 post says the Legend of Catachan "enters each combat zone armed exclusively with Frag Grenades, before unlocking other weapons like his modified Ripper Pistol" — so the evolved form is official, the passive is player-reported.
- Lasgun evolutionThe Lasgun evolves into the Meltagun with the Gauntlet passive — max the Lasgun, keep a Gauntlet in your build, open a boss chest. Two community charts agree; Auroch hasn't published it. Before evolving, upgrading the Lasgun already adds extra Cadian Shock Troopers to Kozlowski's squad (official Oct 21 post).
- Power Fists evolutionEvolving the Power Fists gives the Gauntlets of Ultramar and brings Marneus Calgar to your side, "unleashing a hail of bolter rounds with every attack" — unless you're playing Calgar himself. That's official. The required passive is not published, and the evolution was not in the October demo, which is why players couldn't trigger it there.
- Whirlwind Battery evolutionThe Whirlwind Battery evolves into Orbital Bombardment — "barrages of voidship fire from above", in Auroch's words — with the Liquid Green Stuff passive (community-reported). Max the Battery, hold Liquid Green Stuff, open a boss chest. Some charts call the base weapon the Whirlwind Launcher; same weapon.
Database
- Characters: every announced championAuroch promises over 40 playable champions, split between Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar — you pick a universe, and each has its own roster, weapons and upgrades. Six were playable in the October demo; around 20 are named in official posts and trailers. Unlocks come from Warhammer paint pots found on the battlefield ("unlock new character forms and secrets" — store page) and from challenges; the exact condition for each character isn't published yet.
- Weapons: the armoury so far▶ VideoAuroch promises 75+ weapons. About 25 are named so far: 40K weapons like the Boltgun, Astartes Chainsword, Lasgun, Frag Grenade, Whirlwind Battery and Power Fists; Age of Sigmar weapons like the Tempest Axes, Brazier Staff, Rope and Grapnel and Fyrestorm Greataxe; and two cross-universe "hobby" weapons, Nuln Oil and the D6 Dice. Weapons carry keywords — if your champion can't wield one, a follower joins to use it for you.
- Enemies, factions and Extremis Bosses▶ VideoSix enemy factions (official FAQ): Tyranids, Orks and Death Guard in 40K; Skaven, Blades of Khorne and Gloomspite Gitz in Age of Sigmar. Each has a Faction Trait — Tyranid Synapse makes nearby bioforms Berserk until you kill the Synapse creature; the Ork Waaagh! turns the screen red and floods you with frenzied Orks. Each faction has an Extremis Boss: Ghazghkull Thraka, Vizzik Skour, the Great Unclean One, the Norn Emissary and Trugg the Troggoth King are named so far.
- Stages and which faction you fight in eachSeven stages are known. 40K: Imperial Bastion (Tyranids), Ork Stronghold (Orks), Gallowdark space hulk (Death Guard). Age of Sigmar: The Great Parch (Skaven), Hammerhal (Skaven on one side, Blades of Khorne on the other, crossed via the Stormrift Realmgate). Both universes: the Hobby Table, which mixes several enemy factions at once. A Bloodwind Spoil stage appeared in concept art. The store page promises "multiple modes and stages"; the Gloomspite Gitz stage hasn't been named.
- Pick-up items and what each does▶ VideoPick-ups spawn around the faction-themed light sources on each stage and are one-shot. 40K: Frag Grenade, Melta-Bomb (delayed thermal blast — kite enemies into it), Blast Template (kills everything on screen, except insta-kill-resistant enemies), Hellfire Ammo (ranged damage up + Poisoned), Frenzon (Berserk: attack faster). Age of Sigmar: Purple Sun of Shyish (damage zones that hit you too), Ravenak's Gnashing Jaws (a tethered pet that bites and Burns), Suffocating Gravetide (stuns, then enemies flee).
Mechanics
- Squad system: keywords and followers▶ VideoEvery champion, weapon and some items carry KEYWORDS. When you acquire a weapon your keywords don't allow, an ally who can use it joins you as a follower and fires it on your behalf. Followers can't take damage or collect items — they're extra area of effect with no risk. Several can squad up at once. Auroch's showcased combos: Bastian Carthalos + Lorai (fog pulls enemies into his close-range zones) and the Castellan + Trooper Kozlowski (each Shock Trooper the Lasgun adds raises the Castellan's damage).
- Status effects and how they combine▶ VideoBurning: fire damage over time but the enemy moves faster. Poisoned: poison over time and the enemy slows. Oiled (from Nuln Oil): slows and makes the target take more fire damage — the intended combo is Nuln Oil + any Burning weapon. Berserk / Frenzied: more damage, health and speed (enemies via Synapse or the Waaagh!, you via the Frenzon pick-up). Stunned: no movement, but attacks continue. Warded: Skaven near the Bell of Doom get tougher. Healing: regeneration over time, for enemies and champions.
Launch
- Release date, time, price and platforms▶ VideoNovember 10, 2026, on all platforms simultaneously: Steam (Deck Verified), GOG, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, iOS and Android. Price $7.99 / £6.39 / €7.49, with a 10% Steam launch-week discount and day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Console pre-orders are live (PS5 since Oct 6, Xbox since Oct 27, Switch in select territories). The exact unlock hour has not been announced — the countdown below assumes midnight UTC and we'll correct it the moment Auroch posts a time.
- Warhammer Survivors on Game PassYes. Xbox Wire's November 2026 Wave 1 post lists Warhammer Survivors as "available on day one with Xbox Game Pass" on November 10, for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC and handhelds. The Xbox store page adds Xbox Play Anywhere and cloud saves. It is not included in Game Pass Standard, Premium or Essential.
- The demo: what's in it and whether progress carries over▶ VideoThe October 2026 demo is still on Steam until launch (PC only). It has six champions, the Imperial Bastion (Tyranids) and Great Parch (Skaven) stages, and runs that end when the Extremis Boss arrives at about 25 minutes. Progress does not carry over — Auroch's Oct 6 post: progression from the previous demo doesn't carry to this one, "nor will demo progress transfer to the full game release".
- Co-op and multiplayer: not at launchNo co-op and no multiplayer at launch. Auroch's official FAQ: at launch the focus is single-player, and if multiplayer is added later the community will be notified. The Steam page lists Single-player only, with full controller support. Crossplay therefore doesn't apply; cross-save is only listed for Xbox Play Anywhere (Xbox and PC via the Xbox store).
- PC system requirementsMinimum: Windows 10 Home 64-bit, dual-core 2.4 GHz x86-64, 4 GB RAM, GTX 750 or equivalent, 5 GB storage. Auroch hasn't published a recommended spec. It's Steam Deck Verified, Windows only on Steam (no Mac/Linux build), with full controller, DualShock and DualSense support.
- Patch notes and update timelineNo launch patch yet — the game releases November 10. The latest changes are the October demo's: cross-universe meta-progression, rebalanced enemies/characters/weapons, skippable sequences, two new champions. Before that: a June 2 hotfix to Age of Sigmar chest drop rates. Auroch says no DLC is planned to be announced before launch; the FAQ stresses it's a standalone game, not a Vampire Survivors DLC.
Champions
- Gotrek Gurnisson▶ VideoGotrek Gurnisson is both a playable champion and a summonable follower: evolving the Fyrestorm Greataxe calls Gotrek to your side with Zangrom-Thaz, which swings around you constantly and speeds up when you charge into enemies. If you're playing Gotrek, no clone spawns — "the realms can't handle that type of power".
- The Legend of CatachanThe Legend of Catachan is the fast hit-and-run champion added to the October demo: he "speeds across the battlefield compared to other Survivors" and starts armed exclusively with Frag Grenades, later unlocking his modified Ripper Pistol (community recipe: Frag Grenade + Bandolier). His full-game unlock condition isn't published.
- Malum CaedoMalum Caedo is the starting Warhammer 40,000 champion — the Sternguard Veteran from Auroch's own Boltgun games. He begins with the Astartes Chainsword, a melee arc that players report evolves into the Eviscerator Chainsword with the Tape Measure passive. No unlock needed.
- Marneus Calgar▶ VideoMarneus Calgar, Chapter Master of the Ultramarines, was revealed on Apr 9. He wields the Gauntlets of Ultramar, a keyword-locked weapon; any other champion who evolves Power Fists gets the Gauntlets and Calgar as a follower, "unleashing a hail of bolter rounds with every attack". His unlock condition and the Power Fists passive aren't published.
- Neave BlacktalonNeave Blacktalon is the starting Age of Sigmar champion, a lightning-forged Stormcast Eternal. She opens with the Tempest Axes, which players report evolve into the Whirlwind Axes with the Sabaton (some charts call it the Boot). No unlock needed.
- UlgromthierUlgromthier is the Fyreslayer Auric Runemaster added to the October demo. He starts with a higher health pool and the Brazier Staff, which fires arcing magma projectiles; players report it evolves into Master of Runes with Liquid Green Stuff. Demo players widely called him the strongest of the six.
Live
- Is Warhammer Survivors down right now?Warhammer Survivors is single-player with no online servers, so it can't be "down" the way a multiplayer game can. The card below shows how many people are playing on Steam right now from the official Steam API, refreshed every 5 minutes — empty until November 10, because Steam reports nothing for an unreleased game (the demo's live count is on our player count page). If the game won't start, the usual causes are a pending Steam update, Steam Cloud sync, or a Steam-wide outage.
- Warhammer Survivors player count right nowThe number below is the live Steam player count for Warhammer Survivors, from the official API, refreshed every 5 minutes. Until November 10 this is the demo's player count (Steam reports nothing for an unreleased game); we switch it to the full game on launch day. It counts Steam only — Game Pass, PS5, Xbox, Switch and mobile players aren't included, so the real total is several times higher after November 10. Auroch's published demo figures: 190,000 players of the first demo, over half playing more than an hour.
